Biography
Ulrike Lienbacher ( b. 1963 in Oberndorf, Austria) studied from 1981 - 87 at the University of the Arts
Mozarteum in Salzburg, class for sculpture. She lives and works in Vienna and Salzburg.
Since 2013 she is member of the Board of the Salzburger Kunstverein. Prior to this, she was already involved in the Board and 2001- 2002 she was President of the Kunstverein.
Since 2003 she is member of the Secession - the Association of Visual Artists Vienna.
From 2017 - 2022 she was Professor for Sculpture at the University of the Arts Mozarteum.
She works with various media such as drawing, object/installation, photography and video. The starting point of her artistic exploration is the human body.
She is primarily concerned with the tension between the regimentation and disciplining of the individual in a society geared towards performance, efficiency and perfection and the possibilities of freeing oneself from this corset.
